August 9, 2024 - Due to weather concerns and in order to provide time for schools to be ready for Monday, August 12, 2024, ALL student orientation for 6th and 9th graders and Indian Land 5th and 7th graders has been canceled.
Open houses and other orientations have been canceled, and you will receive information from your child's school regarding rescheduling.
Lancaster County School District will be OPEN for normal operating hours for staff.

Lancaster County School District has been in contact with Emergency Management. Lancaster County is currently under a flood watch. Due to potential flooding and hazardous conditions caused by Tropical Storm Debby, as a safety precaution, ALL Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be closed on Thursday August 8, 2024. ALL events and activities are cancelled.
ALL open houses and orientations scheduled for August 8, 2024 are canceled and will be rescheduled.

Does your child need bus transportation for Orientation Day on August 9, 2024? This request is for Orientation Day bus riders ONLY. Go to our district webpage or your school's webpage and complete the "Orientation Day Bus Request" by Thursday, August 1st - THIS Thursday. Complete the google form ONLY if you need bus transportation.
Pickup times will be posted to the Transportation Department's website and Facebook page.

Returning 7th & 8th grade student schedules will be emailed on Monday, August 5th and 6th grade student schedules will be given out during the 6th Grade Parent Night on Tuesday, August 6th. Schedules will also be available for pick-up during Open House on Thursday, August 8th.

Active shooter training will be held on the campus of Buford High School located at 4290 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, and Thursday, Aug. 1. Training will be led by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department. Lancaster County School District personnel and multiple first responder agencies and departments will participate.
The training will be very realistic with a lot of activity and noise including simulated gunfire in and around the school. However, no live ammunition will be present on site. A helicopter might be in the air during a portion of the exercise. The public is advised that this is a training exercise and not an actual public safety emergency.
The campus of the school will be inaccessible to the public on the training days. Agency personnel, vehicles and equipment will stage on and near the campus during the training, including in the parking lot of Buford Middle School adjacent to the football stadium.
Signs alerting the public to the training exercise will be posted on Rocky River Road near the school, and Tabernacle Road will be closed from Rocky River to Smokey Starnes roads during the training. Motorists should use caution when driving through the area.
The event is closed to the media.


Buford Middle football will begin on August 2,2024 6-8 p.m. Anyone who is interested in playing football this year should report to the annex behind the middle school. Players will need to have an updated sports physical and other paperwork signed in order to participate. Players will need to wear shorts, tshirt, and cleats for practice. If you did not attend the summer practice and weightlifting, you will be required to stay after practice to do extra conditioning. If you have any questions, you can contact Coach Caskey or Coach Smith at (803)285-8473. All necessary forms can be found on the BMS website.
